Do not judge

We all tend to judge others, to criticise them, find fault and be judgmental. The encounter of Our Lord with the woman caught in adultery has much to teach us about how to be less quick to judge. In this meditation we will consider:

  • Our Lord’s encounter with the woman caught in adultery
  • Reasons why we tend to be judgmental
  • What we can do to be less ready to judge and more ready to forgive
  • Words of St Josemaria Escriva from his book The Way

Meditation “The joy of mortification”

We don’t usually look on self-denial or mortification as bringing us joy, but it does – both here and hereafter. In this meditation we consider:

  • Why a disciple of Jesus Christ should live self-denial
  • How mortification is essential for holiness
  • Eight benefits of mortification
  • How we can find areas for mortification in our spiritual life, in the fulfillment of our duties and in kindness towards others
  • How we can accept in a spirit of penance the crosses life brings
  • How those who live self-denial always find joy

Devotion to our Guardian Angel

We all have a guardian angel but how often do we show devotion to him, ask him to help us or thank him for his help? In this meditation, we consider:

  • Scriptural references to guardian angels
  • Statements of Church fathers, saints and Popes on the angels
  • Ways in which guardian angels help us
  • True stories of the intervention of guardian angels
  • How to grow in devotion to our guardian angel
